BS5733:1995--------------
Specification for general requirements for electrical accessories.
Each & every one of our product ranges has been tested & approved by the British Standards Insitute (BSI)
Copies of test reports & certificates are avaialable on request.
Please note that some manufacturers of these products do not have them tested for BS5733 compliance and simply manufacture them in ''accordance with'' this requirement. This does not provide a guarantee that the products are compliant and may render the complete installation as non compliant to BS6396.
BS6396:2008
---------------
BS 6396:2008 Electrical systems in office furniture and educational furniture.
BS 6396:2008 specifies requirements for the safe provision and assembly of electrical power, data and telecommunications distribution systems in office furniture, educational furniture and office screens.
Requirements are specified for furniture for general use and for furniture for use with specific equipment, parts of which may be built in during manufacture. Appropriate tests are described for the installed power distribution system in the furniture.
BS 6396 applies to single??'phase electrical power distribution systems operating at rated voltages up to 250 V a.c. that are connected to the fixed wiring of the permanent installation of the building by a 13 A fused plug and socket outlet arrangement conforming to BS 1363. The standard makes provision for the routing of cables through the furniture.
BS6396 restricts the maximum number of sockets fed from a single 13A plug supply to 6 when they are individually fused at 3.15A.
A maximum of 4 sockets may be individually fused at 5A.
All of our power modules are fitted with ceramic fuses as standard.
All of our modules are supplied as standard complete with a 250mm long 1.5mm 2 earth bond cable terminated with M5 ring terminal. Other sizes and lengths are available to order.
BS 7671
---------
BS7671- Installations complying with IEE Wiring Regulations including Section 607
Electrical installations which are connected to the supply by any other means than a 13A plug (BS6396 installations) must comply with BS7671.
In most instances within the modern office environment, this electrical installation is likely to be an under floor track.
Where the connection is supplying :
more than one work station (i.e. via a Power distribution unit ), or...
multiple computers, for example on trading desks
then the requirements of Section 607 of BS7671 - Earthing for High Protective Conductor currents will need to be followed.
